Somerville wildlife control tip of the month:
Snake Prevention Tips: How to Keep Snakes away
There are different Somerville pest control ways to keep snakes away from your property. Fences are one way, but are not always
effective. For a fence to work as a means to keep snakes away, it has to have some properties. Snake must
not be able to climb on it, so it either has to be slippery, or sloped outwards. Also, a snake must not be
able to pass through it, so it has to be solid (wood or vinyl), or steel mesh, or even net that catches the
snake. Of course, it has to surround the property entirely and has to go all the way to the ground or even below
the ground. Fences can often be a very expensive solution, so sometimes people use netting or even dig ditches in
which they put a steel mesh. Either way, it is a very exhausting work to build a Somerville animal control fence that will keep them away, so
other solutions have to be taken into consideration.
So what to do with your house to keep them away? One Somerville wildlife removal thing to do is not to leave clutters like piles of leaves, mulch,
stacks of firewood, piles of grass etc. Also, some tall plants and shrubs can be used as a hiding spot for snakes. Small
lakes or ponds, or any other water source can attract a snake, so keep them away by draining those. Mice and other pests
attract snakes, so eliminating them might also help. Make repairs on your house, which means to patch any holes where a
snake can enter, no matter how small it is. You can also create vibrations if you spot a snake in the garden, and they can
be made by a lawnmower. Snakes are very sensitive to vibrations and they will run away from lawnmowers.
There is also an option of snake repellents. Problem is that in most Somerville animal trapping cases they do not work, and even if they work for one
species, it will not work for another. One myth people often turn to is pouring sulfur around, but it is not proven that it
works at all. One thing you should consider when using repellents is that they are poisons, and putting poison in the environment
where you live is not the wisest thing to do. Your pets or children can accidentally get poisoned and considering that the Somerville exterminator repellent
solution does not work in most cases, it is not advisable to use them at all.
